What is Zap-It?
ZapperClick is an insect bite treatment that relieves the urge to scratch and reduces the swelling. It was designed to combat irritation caused by mosquito bites, but is also effective on horseflies, fleas and other biting insects, jellyfish stings and even stinging nettles.
How does Zap-It work?
It's a simple piezo device, which from the action of mechanical force on quartz crystals, generates a high voltage/ low intensity electric current. No battery is required, plus it has no expiry date and should last for well over 1,000 bite treatments. This is nature's free electricity.
Why is Zap-It so effective?
Subjecting a bitten area to a series of very mild electric shocks will in part quaterize the bitten area preventing the oversupply of incoming histamine to the bite. Histamine is the body's own defence mechanism but it causes the urge to scratch. As the bitten area is stimulated by impulses from Zap-It, more blood will be introduced into the area, which in turn will help to wash away the irritant chemicals introduced by the insect, along with the protective histamine released by the body to combat them. The result, especially on a new bite, the swelling will decrease and the itching will stop.
Are there any contra-indications?
Zap-It is for external use only. It should not be used around eyes, mouth or sensitive area of the body including pulse points. It can ignite flammable substances, so it shouldn't be used on recently applied insect repellent. Not recommended for epileptic patients or those wearing a heart pacemaker.
